Description
I know that Calgary has good depth on d but could they handle losing two d men? Probably not but I think the Habs need to Target D since we have a lot of centers in the pipeline. Just need to hope one of them pans out to be 1c or 2a c

I'd like to see if they could get Bennett in that trade too. Maybe De La Rose? Plus Ottawa needs to retain some cap on B.R.

I don’t see Calgary wanting that let alone adding Bennett for De La Rose.

Montreal has enough NHL roster players and their bad enough to lose a decent enough amount for the lottery this year. I’d say trade Pacioretty for picks and prospects who are a few years out and let the ship sail this year.

I'm just worried about the amount of defensive protects in their system. When the centers become NHL ready will thry have enough on the back end to be a playoff team or possibly contend for the Stanley cup.

Between Mete and Juulsen already there, Romanov playing in the KHL and next draft, where I think they will add a couple of defensive prospects I don’t see that being a problem. Weber will also be there for the next 5 years, won’t be nearly as effective but still a good guy to have to bring the younger D around.

Habs D is choc full or prospects. You've got Mete and Juulsen already gaining NHL experience and Reilly, who's solid. Valiev and Lernout didn't look out of place. There's the two Czechs (David Sklenicka and Michal Moravcik) who should be coming into their own as potential prospects, and Josh Brook, Cade Fleury, Scott Walford and Alex Romanov. So if you accept that Reilly is solid and that Juulsen and Mete will continue to improve, you really only need two of these other six prospects to deliver.

Key word there is "prospect" Barrie is not a prospect, nor is he the answer. You need to take things slow. I know it hurts and its hard to watch your team struggle, but Montreal needs to embrace that they wont be competitive this year. Tanking is truly their best option. Take on bad contracts, pile up picks/prospects and wait. Believe in Laval and develop.
