why trade Byron when we know he can put up 20 goals? sign him for 3-4 years for 3-3.5mil and lets him help the younger wingers

I don’t see why this deal helps the Blues. We have Steen and Maroon as pieces now until Kyrou, Thomas, Kostin, And Bokk come up. Fabbri is huge top 6 guy for us soon. And a A prospect I know you offered a good deal for us, but I just don’t see how it makes sense from our point of view. Quality offer very fair I’ll give you that, but it just doesn’t make sense from the Blues stand point to bring in Pacioretty right now in a trade.

I like the trade if Patches signs, but patches isn't really a need for us. Schwartz, Steen, Fabbri, Maroon, Blais etc all on the left side already is pretty deep. I think I'd rather keep the controllable Kyrou and hope he becomes a stud.

I agree but I wouldn't bank on steen having many years left if any in a top 6 role on a cup contender, and although fabbri is quite young pacioretty is more immediate production in all likelihood. but I understand getting both fabbri and kyrou would be asking a lot of a STL GM

I agree with the Blues fans here: it's not the right trade for you. On a normal team, the deal is reasonably even (skews a bit to the Habs, maybe) but when you're jammed up against the cap, the Blues are going to need those young guys to fill key roster spots. Habs could do well to take Bouwmeester, though, who I suspect STL would let go for a low-grade prospect in order to get some breathing room.

simple paul byron is 29. I agree he can put up 20 goals, he's done it with very little help. He'll likely do it for 2-3 more years on a bargain of a contract that makes him super valuable for contenders, on a rebuild/retool, he is exactly what you said a leader for the young wingers. we still have great leaders on the team so I think contenders would value him more than a rebuilder like us.
