Very interesting idea. Doubt divisional rivals make this kind of deal as WPG and MIN would absolutely hate helping the other be competitive but I think this deal does just that for both sides.

No way i see Cheveldayoff trading Touba within the division, He's playing in the Eastern US. Either home to Detroit or here in Florida. Book it.

Philly deal is interesting. Flyers get their 3C and Spurgeon is a beast. Would consider it for sure.

Thanks for the responses! I don't think WPG would go through with this but they're getting a fair deal for Trouba.

Simmonds is a great fit for the Wild and Philly has a surplus of LHD, so Spurgeon would help sort that issue out.

I like both of these trades. Only thing I'm not sure about is can the Jets afford to take two big contracts since they need to resign many important players the next offseason.

The first thing I would need to know is what it will take to re-sign the 65-game-a-year malcontent Trouba!

As for interdivisional trades...I've said this before: If you are a competent, confident GM, you shouldn't worry about trading with anyone!

I think the Wild are giving up way too much in the Philly deal. Spurgeon should be able to get Simmonds and Sanheim on his own...IMO.

Yep, Trouba would be expensive. But if we got him Fenton could just say "well Trouba, we gave Dumba $6M and he is much more productive offensively, we think you're worth around the same". The thing is that Spurgeon has this same issue, Spurgeon has never played a full season in the NHL... So it wouldn't be a new issue for us. Trouba would be a great replacement for Spurgeon IMO

Also I'm not sure if he's necessarily malcontent. Players have every right to try and earn as much as the can. I see where that could look rebellious though since his rumored asking price of $8M aav was pretty ridiculous.
