Toronto can just bury the Horton contract on LTIR. Why would they give up a 1st for something that literally causes no trouble?

McCarron for Gauthier is useless trade. Your trading carbon copies. If you're going to move McCarron, at least throw your penny in the well with a different type of prospect.
Habs also badly lose that NYI trade. Alzner is not great but they don't have enough D that are NHL ready or are in a cap crunch to 'dump' him. Trading him and Patches for guy who can;t crack the NHL and a 1st is
Byron alone could fetch a second. But he Habs have to add Benn and 2nd to get the 1st along with Spezza's cap dump? No.
TOR has deep enough pockets they don't need to dump an LTIR salary to another team.
I don't know who Morand is but a package of Shaw and Lehkkonen should get you a much better package than that.

Jason Spezza isn't leaving Dallas for cellar dweller Montreal, And what part of him not wanting to play in Canada don't you understand?

He don't need to want to play in Canada, the Spezza trade would be an interresting move for Dallas has Spezza is now a bad contract on blade. He have a M-NTC but will he be a piece of $h1T? Probably, but now he is a 26 pts 7.5M player in a team that miss the playoff, of course Dallas want to get rid of him... Don't you understand hahahaha good one budd...

Is rebuilt for what - to get Jack Hughes?

Obective here is Lafreniere. I'll add here: 2020 draft is likely to be more interresting than 2019 draft.

The problem for Toronto and the Horton (2 years left) contract is that he must be on payroll the first day of season, which could be a problem next year with the Marner and Mattews big payroll. Morover, lets say the 1 rd of the leaf will most likely be around 26 and the 2rd give by Mtl will likely be around 36, at the end, it is just 10 position sliding plus adding Schemko with a retain is good deal, easy to trade at 1,7m if don't fit.

For the MaCarron and Gauthier trade, whatever... second chance for both.

With Ana, you need to pay to get rid of bad contract like Shaw..
Like the Alzner Pax trade, Alzy have an horrible contract, the trap in that trade is that I'm pretty sure the Isle will have a bad season in 2019-20, I was just looking for their 1rd
