Heinen is better than okposo today, and will continue to be for 10 years.

As a Sabre fan, I agree with both of you that Heinen should not be added to the trade. Okposo was still recovering from an injury to start the season and finished the season as one would expect he had 29 pts and 10 goals in his last 41 games. Would you do Okposo for Miller?

No because of cap space

Okposo was recovering from a medical condition he had over the summer which caused him to be out of shape & have a bad 1st half last season
Once he got his legs under him, he had a 2nd half that would’ve averaged about 60pts over a full season, and that’s on one of the lowest scoring teams in the league
In your guys top6, I’d expect him to be about 25 goals & 65+ points

If not Heinen, sub in another decent young player
But don’t act like this kid is some top prospect
He’s maybe a 2nd liner at some point,
whereas Okposo is proven to be a good 2nd liner

Miller we don’t need, but would take to help u out with salary cap
And we are adding a pick?

Just makes sense for us to move him bc of his age & our timeline for being a competitive team

I’m also sure the Sabres are fine to keep Okposo for this year... play him with Eichel & watch his numbers get back to normal now that he’s healthy... and trade him next offseason and get a better return than u offer

Heinen seems like a middle 6 guy to me
I think some Bruins fans are overrating him here

And with us taking Miller off your hands, who looks like a reserve defenseman for u guys this year...

Okposo has scored 25 goals exactly once in his 10 year NHL career. He has had 65pts in exactly one of his 10 NHL seasons. He was playing with Tavares. I like krejci, but let's be realistic here, Krejci is no Tavares.

Okposo was out there with much for talent as Heinen played with Backes and Riley Nash most of the season, and he was still able to produce more than Okposo. I see no reason why a guy who is 30 will all of the sudden start to do what he has done 10% of his career consistently.

Heinen was a rookie and showed some real promise, He is not flashy, but he is a very solid two way player, who could really slot anywhere in the top 9 and not be exposed.

I think you way overvalue Okposo, Given his health issues as well, I don't want that contract now, when I can get the same out of Heinen or Bjork now let alone the next five years.

I am sure you would do Okposo for Backus. Backus is older, has the same cap hit, and the last 2 years much less productive than Okposo.

Any one who would think the trade as written is fair does not understand talent. You are 100% Heinen for Okposo would be unfair to the Bruins. Many Sabre fans do not understand Miller would be the Sabres 3rd best defenseman behind only Dahlin and Ristolainen. and he is right handed. Okposo for Miller does not work for the Bruins due to salary considerations. I know that the Bruins could use help on the wings and a 4th line center. How about Reinhart and Girgensons for Heinen and Miller? I guess Buffalo would have to add to that trade as well.

Point is, there’s no real scenario where the bruins want okposo. BackEs isn’t waiving his no trade so it’s a non starter
