For Slavin!?!? Do you know who Slavin is? He's a fantastic defenseman, huge shut-down guy and he's only 24

I think Krug for Slavin straight up is fair. Slavin is awesome but in today's NHL points from defensemen re what has perceived trade value. I don't necessarily agree with that, but a top five scoring d man is gong to have more value than a well rounded two week any guy

But Krug isn't top 5... He was 9th in points and 10th in goals last season (although he did miss 8 games). I do think Krug is good, he is pretty underrated defensively and since he's small people immediately think he's bad (trust me, I know all about this with Spurgeon). I agree with you that Krug for Slavin seems pretty fair, but I don't see Carolina making that trade since they just got Hamilton who was tied for 1st in the league for goals among defensemen.

Slavin is a better defenseman than krug wasy. Sure krug has offense to burn but slavin isnt exactly awful with the puck. Plus he dwarfs krug in his own zone. This notion that points are all that matter in a dmans value is a load of crap. Sure its important but the best dmen are well rounded in both zones.

I agree with this, but the league doesn't.
