TB walks away. No way they give up Point, Sergy & Foote in the same deal.

I agree with Goldendelicious, as well as I don't think Ottawa has any desire to retain 50% of Bobby Ryan's salary. I like elements of the framework, but The Devils are getting too much value for basically cap space and a 1st rd pick

Absolutely would rather, but don't see Tampa doing that. Again, if anyone is getting Point in this trade, it'd be Ottawa. Devils aren't bringing enough to the table to warrant that return

I see it this way,supposedly Ottawa wanted Miro Heiskanen from Dallas but that was a deal breaker. Why not Ottawa send Karlsson to TB, TB send Sergey and TJ to OTT, Ryan goes to NJ, along with Callahan and Point. NJ send Zacha to TB , Keith Kinkaid and a 1st to OTT. And maybe some picks get shifted.

So, you think the Devils would trade Zacha, Kinkaid, and a 1st for Bobby Ryan's 7.5 (or even 3.75) per year for 4 years, Callahan at 5.8 for 2 yrs, and all they get back is Point? That is a lot of money for a lot of years to be tied up, while giving up a lot of assets.

Callahan and Ryan are negatives. NJ taking everyone's trash and giving up a 1st round pick and Zacha to do it is not a way to keep Hall interested in staying a Devil.

Also, TJ wouldn't want to go to Ottawa, and he'd have to waive his NTC.

I think there is a way to make this deal work, but that framework looks really bad from a Devils perspective.

That's really my only request, that we end up with talent. Johnson is good but he is 28 already. Point is a guy I had the devils taking in the 2nd round in 2014. He was small but the skillset was amazing. We passed on him twice. I just would like the devils to be able to come away with talent not just for this year but for the future. If they could come away with Point, another prospect and a 2nd round pick for taking on terrible contracts I think that's a start.
