Yea, but the Jackets are not going to give him away. If the Jackets trade Panarin they will get the right value. This is nowhere near the value even if for only one season.

You are getting 2 picks, one being a 1st, a good goalie prospect in Lyon who can be Korpisalo’s backup when CBJ doesn’t resign bob or they move Korpisalo and Lyon backs up Bob plus another prospect who has had a couple bad years because of injury. IMO that is a decent haul.

The Jackets know the value of Panarin and if that is the best return for him, we would be better off taking our chances. Any picks would need to be solely for insurance if he signs long term. The Jackets will want impact players for today not down the road.

Nobody is giving you an impact player for a rental. The only way you get true value is a sign and trade.

The price has been rumored to be a top-6 forward, top prospect, and a 1st. We don’t want your goalie prospect or a futures-heavy haul.

no way you get anywhere near that rumored price from anyone unless panarin signs an extension, what team would give you a current heavy haul if they are getting a one year rental?? If a team is ready to contend now it might trade a current player more for salary reasons, so a 1st plus prospect plus a salary dump player maybe, a 1st+top prospect + current contributor aint happening.

That trade is a joke. Jarmo has already come out and said they would only trade Panarin if they got someone to replace him and no one in that trade does that. Good try now please try again.

This is y Panarin simply will not be traded. There is no way to determine his value because the value u’d get for a superstar the other teams wont pay, and the value u’d get for a rental the Jackets will not get enough. Unless a team overpays for the rental part of it to just get Panarin, this trade will remain rumor (unless CBJ and CHI just undo the 1st trade).

Lyon is just reaching the age where most goalies come into their own. He had good showings when he was called up last year and if it wasn’t for Neuvy, Lyon would be the current backup. CBJ is going to need to either trade Korpisalo or let Bob walk and Lyon would be a good guy to have to back up either of those guys.

If you think the Flyers pick is going to be a late 1st then you have more confidence than I do. We will likely be a 1st round exit again next year which will put us in the late teens to early 20’s.
