Pay up and land Zucker. Yhe price will be high but in the end I can see it being more worthwhile than giving JVR or Neal 6 or 7 years, those contracts will end up hurting

Interested in moving Bennett out?

You should sign Lindholm and Hanifin. They might help out.

The problem with this is that CGY doesn't really have what the Wild need (top 6 right shot forwards). We definitely would have made a move for Hamilton, but that ship has sailed. The only piece I think MN would be interested in for Zucker would be Tkachuk, but I really doubt Calgary would be willing to move him.

Crud.. To be fair, I'd be willing to take on Ennis and give MIN Bennett, and any prospect or two they choose (depending who it is) not sure if that moves the needle or not.

Eh no offense but I really don't like what I see in Bennett. I'd have to check out your prospects so give me a moment on that. Also, our owner made it very clear that in his GM search (before hiring Fenton) that we would not be rebuilding (which is exactly what trading a roster player like Zucker for picks and/or prospects would be). So if CGY wants Zucker, they are going to have to give another top 6 forward in return. Monahan and Gaudreau are obviously untouchable, and I imagine Tkachuk is close to untouchable but maybe for Zucker they'd consider moving Tkachuk which is why I mentioned his name. Also, people don't seem to realize that we have more than enough cap space to buy Ennis out, we really don't need to (nor should we) package him with a player like Zucker to get a much lower return.

How much of a drop off would the ask be from Zucker to Nino?

Not much honestly. Nino is a really good player. He was injured in October (bruised a bone in his leg) and he wasn't healthy the whole season and still was on pace for 23 goals. Had he been healthy, I think his value would be higher than Zucker's but due to recency bias people look at his numbers and see he had a poor year and dismiss him. I really think Tkachuk would be the only player the Wild would bite on for either of Nino or Zucker, but again I really don't see the Flame willing to give up Tkachuk.

Edit: I could see the Wild being interested in Mark Jankowski or Rasmus Andersson, but again if we trade Zucker we will want a roster player coming back

I think CGY would move Jankowski as Lindholm/Bennett could play 3rd line C. Not sure they wanna move Andersson though

Understandable. Do you think they'd ever consider moving Tkachuk for Zucker? Not necessarily 1 for 1, but in a package

Go to Winnipeg. Top 9 forwards that would probably be available are both Little and Perreault, too players who can be a pretty consistent 50 point a year players. They would probably be willing to part ways with either for less than their value in order to clear some cap. Could land either for picks and propects, and this would bring a lot of forward stability to the Flames and make them pretty scary up front.

I don't think Calgary would move Tkchuck and I given he is in line for a massive pay day soon I'm not sure that would make sense for the Wild either. I could see Calgary including either Jankowski or Andersson in a package for Zucker and Ennis. Ennis is negative value, so there would definitely be an add, but not a massive one from Calgary. Only way that MIN makes the deal though is if they are really desperate in their Cap situation (which they kind of are).

FWIW, I really want Zucker on the Flames!
