Small guys can work in between 2 big wingers. Just saying the habs aren't gonna pay that much for strome and caggiula when they could just offer stastny a ridiculous contract he cant refuse and keep their picks.

Lastly, if you dont pay Nurse $3.9M at least, I'm offer sheeting him.

1st, ok so Montreal adds one centre, they still need 2-3 more... 2nd, really? 500k is what you're quibbling over? hes not worth 4M yet and thats what a bridge deal is for. players dont get offersheeted.

im sure hes played centre before and if you're being honest i need you to tell me how you think hockey is played. the guy playing "centre" is whoever the first guy back in the defensive zone is - ask anyone, thats how it works. he is fast and smart i think he can handle it. also, Caggiula wasnt a centre and we played him there for 75% of a season

Nurse is worth $4M easily, he is underpaid here. The 500K isn't the point it's the big picture, you traded out around $5M and underpaid Nurse and you are only $1.5M under the cap. Edmonton is in cap trouble. And yes if you kept strome and underpaid him I would offer sheet him for a 2nd round pick.. $3.9M for 2-3 years is what Edmonton would have to match.

The habs need one C, they have drouin or domi to use as #2C until Poehling, Kotkaniemi, Evans, Olafson or any of the other 5 centers they drafted are ready. They already have their bottom 6 C's.

And you can't tell me Drouin or Domi aren't C's if you say Yamamoto is.

Are you being for real?? There is way more to playing Centre than that...I guess you played community hockey wink good on ya.

Yamo rarely played Centre in juniors and as for Cagguila, he was N Dakotas top Centre when he played there.

i actually played AAA and played centre - i didnt say that it was easy to play centre, maybe read my post again. however, Caggiula played on a line with Boesser and Schultz. Schultz played centre not Caggiula.

i didnt say Yamamoto was a centre, i said him playing there would solve a few problems. the habs could use Strome, both of us know that. if you dont think so you're banking on them signing a 32 year old to a long term deal at way too much money. good plan

I don't disagree I would like strome, but not at that cost. I would just wait and offer sheet him for $3.9M for 2-3 years and only give up one 2nd instead of two and a 4th. The Oilers couldn't match that because they have no cap space.

Edit:
By the way where did I say they should sign stastny long term? I would give him $9M x 2 years just to fill the gap until Kotkaniemi and Poehling are ready. MTL has $20M in cap space and they can afford to spend $$$ - no one can compete with them in that regard.

i dont think Statsny signs a 2 year deal - why would we? and ok thats a fair comment, i can take out one of the 2nd rounders and add at least another 4th because caggiula was involved as well

If any forward could just “Be” a centre by being the first guy back, then centres wouldn’t be in such high demand. Also as a centre given the defensive responsibilities, being 5’8” and 150 lbs doesn’t exactly make defending the opposition easy. There’s a reason centres can play wing but not the other way around.
