From the CGY perspective, I think Treliving *could* do this deal. He would need to give CAR a notable edge on the young forwards coming back to replace Lindholm. But, if CAR is looking to move some guys and reset a bit, Jankowski has the chops to be a Backlund-type center in the long-term, and Mangiapane has been great so far in his early pro years, with plenty of upside. Lazar is a bottom 6 future PK specialist, but maybe finds a higher level in the right setting. CGY adds a mid-late pick for some extra value.
After all of these moves are done, Coach Peters would be working with Hanifin, Lindholm, Ryan, and Ward from his former team.
He knows the players and it would give Treliving a lot of confidence to add these guys if Coach Peters told him it was worthwhile.
------------------------------
CGY finishes the offseason with:
- Upgraded first line (including a right shot on RW)
- Upgraded 3rd line
- Upgraded Top 4 D (Hanifin likely pairs better with Hamonic)
- Upgraded goaltending
Looks like the Canes took less than this package...
Yup, sure did. Lol. Negotiations with Lindholm were at an impass. They better be able to sign Fox or this will hurt even though Dougie is the best player in the deal. Allows them to move Faulk now too so it’s not without it’s merits. But a year from now if Ferland walks, Fox doesn’t sign and Lindholm and Hanifan are signed to long term deals it will sting.

Prediction: Faulk to Edmonton for something of greater value.
