CAR gets their top line C in RNH, EDM gets a perennial 25-30+goal man in Skinner to play alongside 97
EDM gets their PP QB in Faulk, CAR gets a player the organization is familiar with and a good veteran presence for their young blueline
2 goalies that had tough seasons, I expect a bounce back from both. EDM gets cost certainty in Darling, who struggled last season to say the least, but was awesome in CHI and tons of teams wanted him, Talbot is a bit more proven but with 1 year left will likely get a 5.5-6 pay day next year

Way I see it is both teams get 2 really good pieces, RNH and Talbot for CAR and Faulk and Skinner for EDM. Sekera and Darling are iffy pieces for each team but have a track record of being good NHLers

Not a fan of your trade at all. Talbot is a run-of-the-mill NHL goalie...as is Darling so that's an even swap. But, RNH is a #2 or 3 center on a Cup contending team...and overpaid, and Sekera is an overpaid, old, soft, injury-prone defenseman. All of this for 2 very, very good players...although Skinner's soft melon concerns me.

    Makes no sense to me...

Talbot and Darling both had poor seasons. Faulks value has gone down due to rumors of being out of shape, Skinner is on an expiring contract. Meanwhile Sekera is a decent number four defenseman maybe number three when he's playing well, but he really struggled with injuries making people wonder if his cap is worth it. Nuge meanwhile just slid in as the left winger we want to play with Connor so while I think Edmonton would take this deal, and the value is close on both sides, there are concerns

This is such a bad trade doe Edmonton. Sekera is old and injury prone now. No one would take e him. Talbot had one bad season for us. And Nuge just proved what he is truly capable of. Darling hasn’t proven that he can be a starter and Faulk amd Skinner are both very inconsistent.

Interestingly enough, I wouldn't want to do it from an Edmonton perspective. Skinner is a UFA at the end of the season and might want a big pay raise, or might just leave. Nuge is definitely being undervalued here, he had 48 points in 62 games last season, is really defensively responsible, and went almost 50% on face-offs. He's a great 2 way center that can also play wing (and he only played with McDavid for like 10 games). Not to mention he's locked up for 3 more years vs skinners 1.

And Darling and Talbot aren't equal, not even close. Talbot was getting consideration for Vezina votes 2 years ago, he's been a solid starter for a while now. He had a bad year (9.08 save percentage), so his value is down... But darling was absolutely atrocious (8.88 save percentage). Thats the worst of any starting goalie last year. And you certainly can't blame the defence in front of him, they're solid. Every trade I've seen involving darling has Carolina retaining 50% of that contract... Not saying he can't bounce back, but he's not getting you talbot, no chance. He wouldn't get even get you Jake Allen, or Thomas Greiss...
