Tkachuk is a Top 5 pick all day long. Will not drop down to 10

Sorry but I agree that Tkachuk has the potential to fall especially if the MTL wanting a C is true. The only real certainty is that BUF is drafting Dhalin. CAR almost 99% drafts Svechnikov but there has been and always will be a Russian bias so there's a chance someone passes on him but very doubtful!

Tkachuk is top 5 for sure. He won't be dropping to 10. I know the media and even the Tkachuck family has talked about it and everyone would love to see the Tkachuck rivalry alongside the Oilers vs the Flames rivalry, but I'd say it's wishful thinking.

There are some interesting dmen on that draft board though, and there are some teams that are always on the hunt for stud dmen. Tkachuk verbalizing his commitment to a full education in the NCAA could also hinder his value. I would be very surprised if he made it all the way to #10 -- very -- but I wouldn't say it's impossible.

Also keep in mind that his brother is in CGY, so it's possible that Brady goes through the NCAA 4-year route and then balks on the team that drafted him. It wouldn't be the first time we saw that happen.

He wasn't making it to the NHL this year, his commitment doesnt do anything to his value. He won't drop to 10. Period.

Only Pronman has him outside the top-5, at 9th. Still not available to the Oilers unless they trade up (there are at least two teams willing to trade down to #10).

Every year someone drops....Chychrun was consensus top 5 pick (as high as #2) and dropped to what 16? The draft is top heavy and if teams need D or C he will drop.

Dhalin, Svech, Zdina, Bouchard, Boqvist, Dobson, Hughes, Wahlstrom, Kotkaniemi, Veleno, Wilde, could ALL be in the top 10 based on team need. Wingers are easier to come by and nothing against Tkachuk because I also believe he's a top 10 pick it's just impossible to know where he's valued and by whom. Have to remember who's picking in that range as well. What are their needs? Top 3 likely set but OTT, ARZ, DET all need quite a bit but glarring holes at D and C for them. Going to be an interesting draft to say the least and a very good prospect will be available at 10 regardless!
