    1st MTL > 1st EDM
    Why would they do that?

Nuge has a longer contract, is a center and is younger than patches who had a down year and I saw that Montreal wants to pick Kotkaniemi, another center and the oilers need wingers so Zadina helps there

It turns into Pacioretty & Zadina for RNH and Heyton... Habs kinda lose out in this deal.

Wonder if EDM would take a little more and send Draisaitl, freeing them a little cap space, still getting the wingers they want, allowing RNH to play 2C with more talent.

Maybe Pacioretty (in a sign & trade), 3rd overall, and Mete for Draisaitl. In this scenario, EDM gets to pick #3 and #10 as well.

Maybe we really take one in the stones and take a shitty contract back (Lucic?)

No they don't move draisaitl. 2 wingers and another left shot dman. Especially one that's getting up there in age.

Pacioretty < RNH But it's very close
    3rd OA >>>>>>> 10 OA
The trade should be somethong like Pacioretty, 3rd OA, Petry vs RNH, 10th OA, Nurse or Klefbom.
MTL gets a LHD and EDM RHD.

How is RNH better then a player that actually gets 30 goals and 60 + points? Both things he has never done. Edmonton fans need to give up this notion that RNH is better when he has never shown that he is better and barely shown he can handle top line minutes, the most success he has seen is beside McDavid and I think anyone would be able to say that.

2 simple reasons, contract 1 year < 3 years and 29 years old > 25 years old. Remove your MTL underwear!!

Those are his advantages, neither of those make him the better player lol from top line players you have to pay a top line price, that’s always the way it’s been. Paciioretty = top line left winger, RNH = 2nd line center and I think I’m being generous he since the last season RNH actually played at center he had 38 points in 82 games....

Not sure what you're talking about? Nugent-Hopkins has ALWAYS played center except for the last 13 games of the 2017-18 season.

2016-17: 82 18 25 43 - only 3 centers in the league played against opposition top lines more than he did
    2017-18: 49 17 16 33 - this is NOT INCLUDING time spent with McDavid as a LW, pace of 82, 28-27-55

He has NEVER, EVER scored at a 38 point pace in the NHL, he's always been higher - even in his rookie season, when he scored at a 69 point pace.

All the stats are right here on this website. This is not rocket science.

When did I say he didn’t play center?

You can’t argue the fact he isn’t a top line center, he is a second line center, can play good defensively but has never put up elite points, I’ll admit he would have broken 60 points but that’s also because he has only played one complete season. Still young so not to concerned about injuries but that is something to consider.

And I’ll admit my mistake, his only full season he had 43 points, I was off by 5.

Ok I should have said “ ...the last time he played a full season at center he had 43 points in 82 games” ....... still points to him only being a 2C

And I never said he wasn't. But keep in mind that he played as a defensive center last year - only 3 centers in the league played harder minutes than RNH did, Kesler, Koivu and Kadri. They did that to give McDavid the easier matchups. Here's his results compared to those players:

    Player - GF/60 - GA/60
    Koivu 2.00 - 1.80
    Kesler 1.10 - 1.10
    Kadri 2.20 - 2.60
    Nuge 1.60 - 1.90
    ****
    McDavid 3.30 - 1.50

It was a winning strategy, I'd say, even though it made Nugent-Hopkins look bad to people who don't watch the team closely.

I never said he was bad. I was argueing the trade value, it favours Edmonton, because in my opinion Pacioretty is the better player then RNH. Him plus the 3rd overall is an over payment.

I agree that the value is weighted in Edmonton's favor, but it's close enough that Bergevin might go for it. Of course, we're talking about Chiarelli on the other end and he's just as incompetent as Bergevin, so... happy

I guess the poster was assuming the player's ages and years of control weighted the Pac-Nuge portion in Montreal's favor, and well it might. But you're right: player-for-player, Patches is worth a bit more than Nuge.
