Description
NHL Draft

1-
2- Calen Addison RHD Lethbridge Hurricanes
3- Alexander Khovanov C Moncton Wildcats
4- Jakub Skarek G, HC Dulka Jihalva

St. Louis is likely the best trade partner overall for Ryan O'Reilly, and the Sabres could also use another offensive blueliner back there. Vegas is personally going to be all in on signing John Carlson or trading for Erik Karlsson, and if they do so, Miller could be the expendable one. Also, if Karlsson is who they want, they will need to accumulate assets.

Robby Fabbri (RFA rights)

Rationale: If Colton Paryko is not the return for ROR, and if Kyrou and Thomas are off limits, the most sensiable return would then be Tage Thompson becuase of his two-way upside, and versatility to play center and wing, and also mainly because with Evander Kane gone, the Sabres need a top six power forward. Thompson is the best option for the Blues to give up that's not Kyrou, Thomas, or Dunn. Robby Fabbri is a risk, but could be a potential top nine floor but is coming off an injury, and actually has a long injury history. Will he have the same speed? I'll take that chance here. Fitzpatrick gives them a potential goaltending prospect to add to the pipeline, and you can never have enough.

The template here for this trade is the Mike Richards trade, although when Brayden Schenn was traded, he was a top 10 prospect in the league, so I have St.Louis adding here as Thompson is not In the same tier of value Schenn was years ago.

2019 conditional first round pick if the Blues make the second round of the playoffs. Pick can be deferred to 2020.

That seems like a lot in terms of draft assets for St. Louis, but in reality for 2018, Buffalo is moving up a couple spots into the rear of round 1, and is picking up 45 overall..... so it's not a lot for 2018, that's why the 2019 pick is included. St.Louis also has a trade chip like Gunnarsson who if healthy may be able to reclaim some of those lost assets.

I think the Blues accept if you give them some cap relief or throw in a player. That’s a pretty big ask, but I like the pick swap aspect of the trade. Maybe taking Bouwmeester or adding McCabe would get it done?

Reinhart at 6.1m seems like an overpayment. LTIR Clarkson makes no difference to the Vegas cap. What is this fascination about LTIR that folks think injuries players can't be replaced? Heck you did it. As a result, Miller stays a Golden Knight.

The blues deal seems pretty solid. I think the conditional pick would be more like a conference finals or cup finals appearance instead of a 2nd round appearance since that just seems like a low bar to set.

It is especially intriguing if the blues feel like they can get good value on excess pieces in Sobotka, Gunnar, and Berglund. A couple 3rd or 2nd round picks would be ideal. We would still need to work on RW or hope Kyrou/Kostin emerge soon, but assets/cap space from a couple other moves could be put to work on this and our Center/Defense depth would be set, and still have a solid LW group as well.
