What cup? Is cup the name of a prospect that's projected to be a lottery pick? The defense is trash. Kovalchuk has already said no to the Oilers camp. The forwards are barely upgraded, but the 4th line still features a natural winger playing down the middle. Garbage.
Yamamoto, unless he absolutely devours his competition during preseason, should not be on the Oilers opening night roster. He had a wicked post-WJC run in the Dub and got hurt towards the end of Spokane's run. Let him build on it in the AHL. This team has absolutely no need to rush prospects any more than they have. 2018-2019 isn't the "go-for-it" year: the past 3 were. Management squandered that, time to wait another year so they can unload bad contracts and acquire young talent to add to their core of McDavid, Draisaitl, Klefbom, Puljujarvi, and co.
What the hell is that Dallas trade? Larsson cannot be traded, strictly on optics. The Hall deal was goddamn awful then (and now) but unless the return on him is Hall-esque, Chiarelli would be publicly drawn and quartered. Besides, giving away a top-4 RHD and a very promising bottom-6 center to upgrade on the bottom-6 C and acquire a 4th is just flat out terrible strategy.
Nevermind how bad the Montreal trade is. You could make the argument that (based on both team's needs and management in MON having a general disdain for Galchenyuk) that Nurse for Galch is roughly close to even. An aged Petry for RNH with picks going back to Montreal is asinine.
