Larsson could get you way more than just that...., also i think the MTL trade would be fair without the picks

You’ve made our team even worse. Especially the defense, we were bad before and now we’re pathetic

What cup? Is cup the name of a prospect that's projected to be a lottery pick? The defense is trash. Kovalchuk has already said no to the Oilers camp. The forwards are barely upgraded, but the 4th line still features a natural winger playing down the middle. Garbage.

Yamamoto, unless he absolutely devours his competition during preseason, should not be on the Oilers opening night roster. He had a wicked post-WJC run in the Dub and got hurt towards the end of Spokane's run. Let him build on it in the AHL. This team has absolutely no need to rush prospects any more than they have. 2018-2019 isn't the "go-for-it" year: the past 3 were. Management squandered that, time to wait another year so they can unload bad contracts and acquire young talent to add to their core of McDavid, Draisaitl, Klefbom, Puljujarvi, and co.

What the hell is that Dallas trade? Larsson cannot be traded, strictly on optics. The Hall deal was goddamn awful then (and now) but unless the return on him is Hall-esque, Chiarelli would be publicly drawn and quartered. Besides, giving away a top-4 RHD and a very promising bottom-6 center to upgrade on the bottom-6 C and acquire a 4th is just flat out terrible strategy.

Nevermind how bad the Montreal trade is. You could make the argument that (based on both team's needs and management in MON having a general disdain for Galchenyuk) that Nurse for Galch is roughly close to even. An aged Petry for RNH with picks going back to Montreal is asinine.

Faksa would be an excellent pick up for the Oilers. Would be a terrific third line centre and could easily fill the role of 2nd line C if either Drai or McD would get injured.

Not even close. Larsson, a 1RD, is far more valuable than any 3C in the league.

Your first two trades make no sense. Those three players can be buried in the minors (two of them already are) with virtually no cap implications, the picks aren't worth much and won't help the AHL club for 2-3 years, if ever.

Actually, this whole thing makes no sense.

I wouldn't do that. Galchenyuk is not worth RNH. Petry is a 30-year-old who is on the back half of his career is not worth as much as Nurse.

I'd say no to both the Montreal trade and the Dallas trade. It makes no sense trading away our best defensive defenseman and our best defensive forward when are number one need is defence. Jeff Petry is not coming back to Edmonton. Larson has a better contract and is 5 years younger. RNH will be staying put and probably playing with McDavid for many years to come and adding Nurse would be the stupidest thing the Oilers could do.

Doesn't matter. Dallas doesn't do this trade. Doesn't matter if it's a fair value or not; Dallas' needs aren't on defense. They need a top-6 scorer (which they can find via free agency). They aren't going to trade one of their best young players for a piece that they don't need, regardless of how fair the trade is.

I didn't say it was a fair trade - did you mean to quote someone else? I'm happy that Dallas doesn't want to do Larsson-for-Faksa, because it's not worth it for Edmonton to do that anyhow.

Yeah I realized that I quoted the wrong guy after I posted. My bad. And I agree. Edmonton could get more for Larsson, though I think it would be a pretty dumb idea for them to trade him.

https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/ilya-kovalchuk-to-reportedly-sign-with-rangers-returning-to-nhl-after-5-year-absence/

Old news. That report, from April 9, proved false.
