Why trade Hossa though if you can just LTIR like a Clarkson or Bolland?

When you are a cap team, you get more flexibility by trading away an LTIR....for example you can't bank salary cap for trade deadline deals.

Domi has gotta get more than 1.8M right? Wasn’t he in the 40-50 range in points for a down year?

Yes, but in trading for his rights he could be signed to a prove it, bridge deal. Maybe 1.8 is low. Maybe it's 2.5....

Obviously you're carrying 2 players too many so there is more cap space. I can't see Domi signing anywhere for under $2.5M even for a bridge deal but I do like the idea, not sure you need a 1st rounder plus Hayden and Hossa's AZ friendly cap hit. Also that is rich for DeHaan, can't imagine him getting more then $3.75M.

The big issue here is the Centers after Toews are awful at the dot. Schmaltz and Hino are both at 40%...unacceptable for 2nd and 3rd line C's. Kampf is a lock for 4th line likely. Murphy or Rutta has to go, plus trimming the roster to 23 and fixing DeHaan you end up with another $5M roughly to grab a proper Center with a strong faceoff percentage.

Really good points, I think you are right on.....but I do like the makings of this team with these trades...I believe Detroit traded a 1st rounder to take whatshisnames contract to AZ. Anyway it's Nashville's first, So in reality the trade is Hartman, Hossa's contract and Hayden for Domi and cap space....I'd still do it....
