First, if you traded for Marner, I would have him playing in his regular position right wing. . Gee if Carlson can be signed so cheaply by the Blues (4.8m), the Leafs would just pay Carlson 6m and then they could keep Marner.
Leafs aren't trading their leading scorer for Parayko. ROR is worth more. I would imagine the Sabres would like more "immediate help"

I could see the Leafs entertaining a Parayko-Nylander based deal but, unless Dubas' analytics are very unfavourable for Marner, I can't see them moving him.

Parayko's $5.5m cap hit does provide some cost certainty though...so I could see the value going St. Louis' way being a bit higher as a result

Sorry, I'm more of a baseball guy so my valuations of certain players (Carlson) may be a little off lol

Soon to fix Marner positioning

Regarding BUF, I think Berglund could be a solid top 6/9 fwd for them, and Kostin is NHL ready as is, but would only benefit from another season in the AHL. But I personally think that this package gets it done for ROR. But once again happy

Fair. Sign him for a year, see how he does, then reintroduce this deal ??

How does Nylander's value compare to Marner's? I'm not too knowledgeable about the Leafs as a whole haha

What Matthews-Marner-Nylander are going to re-sign for is the biggest question mark hanging over this team right now. Most fans and hockey pundits seem to have Nylander between $6m-$7m. There's a chance he signs for less on a bridge deal. Marner's is the topic of much debate. At the beginning of the season, most put him close to Nylander in the $6-7m range. With his performance in the 2nd half of the season (after he played in the top 6), he was on a 100pt pace and completely running the offence. Some have his next contract creeping as high as $10m...many now thinking it could be in the $8-9m range. Many think he'll gamble on himself and wait until next summer before signing. If he continues on the same trajectory..he could argue $9+ easily.

So....I'm not sure what to tell you but I wish I could.

Is this fantasy land dealing? I saw the $4.8 million contract offer for John Carlson and I know straight away you were just totally having fun with this and this wasn't any actual logical realistic GM thread.

You can have Nylander....but I would be devastated if we traded Marner...

Also, ignore anything that has to do with the salaries from other people. Yes, players want to get paid, but sometimes players want to win more than make more money. It's more rare, yes, but it does happen. So don't get caught up in comments about salary, just ignore that. Honestly, St. Louis is a great city, great food, pretty good team, I'd sign there and take a pay cut...which usually isn't even a paycut. Carlsson would be taxed like hell in Canada, where as taxes are much lower in the states, as is cost of living for the most part. So again, just ignore people when it comes to the cap, cos they don't take into consideration other things that go into playing/living in a city. Hence, why Tampa is able to sign players to "cheaper" salaries than normal...cost of living/taxes is a blessing if you're a smart GM and know how to pitch.

Most Sabre CF GM over value O'Reilly, this trade is close, 1st, good prospect, roster player & 3rd.

--Carlson gets a bigger payday.
--personally, would like to see a stay-at-home-type (like Mayfield) brought in to pair up with Dunn.
--J-Bo will be back before Gunnarsson. Likely stuck with both contracts.
--Mikkola and Sergeev, among others, will likely be pushing for playing time ahead of Reinke.
--Kudos on adding Maroon. Ideally, would like to add one of Maroon or Roussel, plus Brodziak, plus one of Reaves or Grabner.
--No way Fabbri gets$3.5M coming off back-to-back injuries to the same knee. At best, he gets a 1 yr bridge deal, and starts in the AHL to show he's healthy and able to contribute.
--I don't move Parayko for anyone not named Draisatl.
Otherwise, looks solid!
