You'd probably be saying the same thing watching him light it up in Winnipeg.

It would essentially be MonToronto, because you'd still be looking for that top line center.

Austin Matthews is just as skilled as Laine but just is a centre and all due respect but centres will and always eill trump wingers of equal value seeing centres can usually play centre and wing where wingers can only play on wing. Laine is a great player but you don't build teams down the wing you build them centre, d, goal.

That would leave Winnipeg with a top 9 of:

Conner-Scheifele-Wheeler
Ehlers-Matthews-Little
Perreault-Stastny-Roslovic

Although the Jets would likely not have traded for Stastny if they had Scheifele, Matthews and Little at C. Matthews would have a lot less pressure with Scheifele taking top line duties, just as Wheeler has been able to give Laine 2nd or 3rd line matchups.

I MAYBE (doubt it but maybe) could've forgiven this IF you signed Tavares but you didn't even do that!

You know who would give Matthews less pressure? Tavares. Lol

I would guess that the Leafs will only be able to sign two of Matthews, Nylander and Marner and stay under the cap. Adding Tavares would cost at least one of Nylander or Marner and the defence would still not be addressed. Matthews is your guy, grow around him.

Number 1 centres don't grow on trees, number 1 wingers do

does anyone really believe that laine is better than matthews? seriously i mean ithink matthews is overrated bc nhl put him in the top 8 centers but laine ? really? dude is a generic ovi with way less skill and way less physical

ovi at 32 is better than laine at 19? yikes

Winnipeg wouldn’t need Matthews anyways now since they have had great center depth.

I COMPLETELY agree with this reply, it was sake of argument. Also I wouldn't mind giving up Nylander if Tavares signs a Stamkos deal in Toronto. Give or take a mill or 2.

Sure let’s do it then. Lets trade Winnipeg’s top goal scorer and someone who’s currently tied with Alex Ovechkin for 1st in goal scoring for someone that has had injury issues it seems like every month and all year. Point is, I don’t see Winnipeg giving up Laine now with how valuable he’s been to them lol. Trading Laine for another #1C is pointless. They have Scheifele as their 1C and they don’t need another 1C. Matthews doesn’t fit the needs of Winnipeg now when they got Laine who potentially could be a top sniper like Alex Ovechkin.

Yeah cause Ovi has won so many cups! Oh wait... you wanna make that comparison? Fine I'll make one. Hmm another top talent C in the league who had injury issues early in his career? That sounds familiar... 3 going on 4 now right? Back 2 back Art Ross'?

What are you even smoking? 3 going on 4? Stanley Cups? Please tell me you're not comparing Matthews to Crosby! That's a whole new level of dumb BAHAHAHAHA. I literally don't even know, because the last player to win "Back 2 back" Art Ross trophies was Jagr. The last C to do it was Lemieux. McDavid has a shot this year... but Matthews doesn't even come close to any of those players.

GTFOH dude, all you do is spew garbage and false arguments. #FakeNews laugh
