I did a mock up a while back for the Beleskey for Martin trade... I don't think this is an all bad idea...

Agree. I’d try for Garrison from Vegas first though. His contract runs out this year.

So does everyone else. Lol. Only way they are getting rid of him is for another bad contract. Or some small budget team need the cap bump to get to minimum. Worth a shot, vegas has no use for Garrison, he’s buried in minors like Beleskey, his only value is it’s the last year of his contract, they have plenty of cap space, roster space, alot of expiring contracts, and unlike B’s might be able to get some use out of him and get him on the ice.

1st year in Boston 15 goals 260 hits. If he regains form after injuries and they get 65-75% of that it would be a steal for them.

Highly unlikely but worth trying. Garrison isn’t playing for them and will get them nothing in trade.

Also, if Vegas does decide to open the left defenseman store at the deadline as they originally planned, they're still likely to deal guys with positive value to bring back wings and right defensemen who help them contend this year. If no other contender has cap space for guys like Nash, the Sedins, or Bobby Ryan, then a few of their current teams would be pretty happy to trade them at full price for depth guys with some positive value like Merrill, Hunt, and maybe even McNabb. That's going to open up playing time for Garrison and maybe, if they're healthy, Stoner and Sbisa. Now that they're making the playoffs, Vegas aren't buying up toxic assets just for fun.

7 LD in front of him on the pecking order. I see them moving Sbisa for whatever they can get which won’t be much. Maybe another, Merrill maybe for a RD rental or more fw depth. Stoner and Garrison will be tough to move. They need the rest of them.

VGK are 4-0-0 when Garrison plays at least 19 minutes https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/g/garrija01/gamelog/2018/

And unlike Belesky, he has a point this year.

I think they keep Garrison in the minors instead of Hunt to showcase Hunt for a trade and play Garrison after the deadline, and because Hunt might get claimed on waivers, while Garrison's contract protects him.

I'm not quite sure I understand how LTIR works, but it looks to me like Vegas has room to trade for about 20M of cap hit at the deadline. Since they sold out all their games this year, I don't think Garrison's contract gets a second thought. If you want to trade them a right defenseman who can play twenty minutes of average hockey, they'll gladly part with him. Short of that, he provides depth in case of injuries in a long playoff run.
