Description
Basically risking the future for the next two years, I’m way over the official cap but idk what the cap situation is come TDL day. And two if i were the gm and didn’t win the cup this year or next I’d most likely be fired. Lastly i could easily get laughed at by fellow gms for any of these proposals. Let’s hear what you guys think about going for the grand slam next week!

The EDM deal is so much better than the supposed Vatrano and a 3rd deal. I actually really like it, since they need more right-handed shots in their system, not another reclamation project. Would prefer it to be a 3rd this year though. I think the NYR deal is good, and I think its more than enough to one-up a DAL offer of Heiskanen+1st.

Not sure about the Ottawa deal. It doesn't seem like enough.

Yeah i think there’d need to be at least one more prospect thrown into the karlsson deal but idk. As for McDonagh supposedly the rangers said they want debrusk in any deal for him but personally I’m not moving debrusk

Rangers say no.. If we are getting a first its going to be a 2018 1st. Heinen wouldn't be bad but I'm not thrilled or excited about the trade

Understandable but with the pieces that are supposedly available don’t you think that you could get at least 2 firsts this year from nash, zuccarello trades? So you’d be looking at 4-5 first round picks in the next two drafts with a rookie whose top 10 in rookie scoring, and an underrated nash like right winger prospect in synenthsyn or however it’s spelled

Not enough for Karlsson. Too much for McDonagh. Prefer to keep RH shot Fitz just because of lack of depth there.

Personally....don’t like it. Destroyed the future and put us in cap hell in 2 years. Not to mention over cap now.

Technically i don’t think they’d be over the cap but yeah it would be an extremely risky maneuver but say hypothetically all this happened and they won the cup this year. Chara likely hangs them up, the cap is supposedly making a larger jump than previous years and once it comes time to resign the young core McDonagh and karlsson are off the books. Now this only works in a perfect world which we don’t live in, i was just having some fun. I read up on how the cap works during the deadline, and you take the players cap hit, divide it by 186 (days in a hockey season) and multiply it by the days remaining in the season. So in conclusion the bruins would be closer rather than farther from that cap ceiling

Trading and maybe resigning McDonagh is one thing but Karlsson too just isn't a good idea. With what Karlsson is going to cost to resign is going to be crazy

Still going to be over next year. Cap is going up but probably not enough to cover that. 16 contracts come due without Spooner. 9 on main roster 7 in minors. Only significant $ is Chara. 9 main roster contracts coming due = approx 11.5. If the cap is 80 you are left with about 9m of space to extend or replace those 9 guys. No wiggle room. No room to upgrade. Have to downgrade backup goalie. Unless you can find someone dumb enough to take Beleskey or start selling off assets like Krug, McQuaid, Miller.

If you are just letting them walk in a year a half for nothing than it’s an even bigger waste as it is all for one season because at that point you’d be selling them off at next years deadline. I’d rather contend for the next 6-10 years than make 1 run and be mediocre for the next 5 from lack of depth.
