Description
Trading all the 29 y.o.+ players except Price and Weber for young players or draft picks.
Getting the quebecers drafted in previous years by other teams.
Finishing as low as possible this year and getting great players through the draft.
Expecting to contend in 2-3 years, not before.

legit question here: Why on earth would teams trade their 4th round pick for a 5th one for one? What's the logic behind this? it's like trading 1 dollar for 80 cents. there is no upside for the party trading the 4th round pick. why would anybody do that?

The reference on that trade is if Al Montoya plays 7 games in net for Edmonton, the 5th round becomes a 4th round for MTL. So far he has played 5 games, so he should hit 7 games before seasons end. Similar circumstances with a forward with regards to the LA Kings trade.
