Description
The reason I've trade Wilson and Stephenson is because I don't see either of them fitting into our long term plans. After his hot start, Stephenson has cooled off a lot. He's barely noticeable in some games. Wilson hasn't done a lot for us after his hot stretch either. Packaging them for a futures and then signing a quality 3C makes the most sense. I'm sure Backlund would want to go somewhere to be a 2C, and potentially get paid more, but at the end of the day, it puts us in a position to win the Cup, and we still have almost all of our future.

Cap situation will be tight, but we could trade Niskanen to free cap space and give Hobbs the 3RD spot, moving Bowey in the top four.

BrianMacleonsis, if Burakovsky is still struggling at this point, we can entertain a trade. But not now. Wait and see how he can fit in to a championship team first.

tom wilson is a cheap top 6 player who may not show up on the score sheet but if you watch the caps play hes always on the ice when they score minus the powerplay......not to mention his pk abilities

Stephenson is a cheap replacement for beagle........ i dont do that trade doesnt make sense to me......no one is scoring bc is top 3 in goals right now

also before this year Siegenthaler was a top 60 prospect and youre giving up a ton to move orpik in a situation where caps even with that trade arent good enough to win a cup

i would rather have eller for 3.75 than Backlund

just a lot of money going to ufa instead of building the team from draft picks........

That's waaaay to much in the ARI trade.

"After his hot start, Stephenson has cooled off a lot. He's barely noticeable in some games. Wilson hasn't done a lot for us after his hot stretch either."

I'm not against that trade to get a 1st but Stephenson was great when he was in top 9 (think he had 6 points in 13 games there), but has played most games with bad Beagle. Wilson has been a revelation, he's finally turned into a top 9 player.

I'm cool w./ keeping Bura and moving him to the RW...

- You won't get near a 1st from anyone for Wilson, Stephenson, or both combined...no way.
- I'm in to trade either or both, but probably to separate teams and for lesser return...Wilson and pick swapping for Duclair would have been a good trade, especially if the Grubi for Hjalmmer could have been done without losing a 1st and having to manipulate the Orpik $...
- I think the Caps trade Bowey. I think Johansen and Hobbs, and maybe Siegenthaler will be better than Bowey...he's yet another defensive mistake machine. But sell high on him now...especially if you're going to over pay Carlson. Caps do not need young ineffective defense projects, when there's enough young upside projects in the hopper.

- Don't need Wedgewood, don't need Backlund. Agree to keep cheaper Eller instead and promote G from within.

- Also, you must keep Beagle. He's not expensive and he does WAY too many little things right. No brainer. Until that guy retires or is physically unable to move his feet, you keep Jay Beagle.

Any discussion regarding the Caps and moving Bowey into the top four is not worth taking seriously. He has been awful!
