As McDonagh is a little over a year from becoming a UFA, it would be much more worth it for the Leafs to wait. If the Leafs were gung-ho on trading for the Rangers captain, I would deal Gardiner for McDonagh straight up, if possible. Both have the same amount of time left on their current deals and their cap hit is roughly the same. Maybe the Leafs include a mid-tier prospect to sweeten the pot, but for goodness sake, don't touch Grunstrom (will replace tenacity of Komarov, eventually) or Leivo (will likely replace, or attempt to replace JVR).

No, no, no, no, no, NO! What are thinking mate??? Borgman, is already looking like a complete star in his first season, and you think trading him to the NYR for an aging McDonaugh and everything else is worth? Not even close. Then you want to trade a great and young 4th line center for an aging one. This was extremely poor.

Gardiner for McD sounds decent, but I sure as hell wouldnt touch Borgman and Gauthier. The most I'd do is Gardiner and a 3rd rounder or a low -teir prospect. This was a complete miss by this guy

He won SHL rookie of the year... look up who else won it in years past (Hedman, Karlsson) and hes been playing better and better every game. Future top 3 dman, and I honest to god mean it

Not sure Borgman will ever be a star, but he certainly could work his way into higher top-4 minutes. While he does have some offensive upside (minimal), his key value lies in his defensive game (still needs plenty of work) and physical play (the best developed skill he currently possesses, a long with shot blocking).

Ya, But I just like the fact that Letestu is a strong 4th line center that Toronto could use in the Playoffs.

Oh my gentle Jesus. I love the Leafs and am very happy with how Borgman has played but star? My goodness. I almost spit out my coffee.

But it wouldn't be a Leaf trade without somebody trading a Dman with just 1.5 years on his contract. McDonagh isn't going help the Leaf that much in the this season and next, and when the Leafs are finally getting good....he would be a UFA. There are 31 teams in the league, can't these type of Dman traded to any other team?

Maybe not. But you seem to think many Leafs fans are being unjust in rejecting these deals. Most of these short term deal to the Leafs are moronic. So round and round we go. 95% of these trades to the Leafs for three top prospects....Leaf fans say no. Leaf haters laugh, but can't construct any deal with another team.

I think you're just trolling, making stuff up. Most Leaf fans don't say that , but many know the value of their players especially when it's related to term and cap. Trolling gets a person on a no read list.

I literally put the people saying those things in quotes when I respond. You then ask me why someone else proposed a trade to the leafs and we end down this rabbit hole.

The amount of people who think half the marlies in addition to the leafs press box would be all stars on every other team in the league is larger than you admit.

It happens here every day with kapanen, leivo, every dman who is leafs property under 25 and to a lesser extent rychel.

See, every Dman the Leafs own? The only two Dmen every mentioned in this posts are Dermot...who is in the NHL and Liljegren. who is last year's first rounder. Sorry you're anti Leaf troller and a non contributor of any thing constructive Like your name though. Goodbye.

The post you commented on literally was about borgman. so now thats three, to go with kapanen and leivo.
