Description

Caps take a long view, adding picks and young players for pending UFAs they don't think they can re-sign, and renting back Mike Green to stay contenders this year. Calgary has cap space to extend Eller, and gets much stronger up the middle by adding him this year. Enough stronger to say goodbye to Sam Bennett? The Caps use Vrana and Bowey's waiver-exempt status to remain salary cap compliant.

Calgary has Monahan-Backlund-Jankowski up the middle and doesn't need Eller. Definitely not interested in giving up Bennett for him.

So not only do we downgrade right now, but we lose a 2018 1st as well? Can you explain why this remotely makes sense? Sending down Vrana and Bowey makes us even worse right now. This makes no sense for the Caps to do.
