Buffalo is not interested in a 3rd or 4 th line prospect and that's what Simon is. Not really interested in Cole either, that said I would counter and say Kane @50% retained our 2nd round pick and z.girgensons for Pittsburghs 1st non lottery protected 2018 pick. Conor Sheary, and ion Cole plus a 3rd in 2019 if Kane resigns before or in free agency.

I actually edited it ...idk if you'd still accept, but I added Chimera because I really want his leadership in the lockerroom.

I still think it's a very fair deal considering it's a goaltender upgrade, and a top four defenseman which can be priced high for what is at this point a cap dump (Griess), and a collection of second and third rounders, and a good prospect in Vande Sompel but not necessarily Toews

I wasn't sure if Dominik Simon and Gustavsson would be a dealbreaker, but it's a major boost in scoring, speed, and grit, without giving up Daniel Sprong, and only moving down the draft board a few spots from the original first.
The pick swap (Buffalo high 2 for Pitt mid 1) is also very fair if the Penguins miss the playoffs and end up in the lottery because with them, there is still that risk, and I still leave them with a pick high enough to get a very good prospect in the draft.

Gus is one of the top goalie prospects in the NHL. I honestly think the Sabres don't get enough value lol but the pens say yes in a heartbeat.

I thought it was just about right for Pittsburgh only necause I know that Ian Cole all by himself as a rental also has value.

But the Pens is tricky because I would obviously want Daniel Sprong, but I think Sprong is someone they'd wanna keep.

Simon is still good because he fit's Buffalo's desire for a "B" tier prospect which he his, and a roster player...and he's got versatility to play center and wing. He has a third line center/ second line wing ceiling, and if Buffalo uses him in the AHL, he really would help the Amerks in the playoffs.

I get that I'm a biased pens fan, but Daniel sprong is going to be a really special player. I honestly wouldn't trade sprong unless it was a cornerstone d-man or 35 goal scorer (not named JVR). Maybe not the smartest decision but it is the hill I'm choosing to die on.
