Goalie prospects are the last thing we need. I'm not against taking Stajan but there has to be more if you want to dump him and/or have us retain salary on Pacioretty.

Let's take Gilles out for Dube, and take out our first round pick. I don't want the Flames to move that, not picking until the fourth round next year would be ludicrous. I would see the trade formulate somewhere along the lines of...

Calgary gets:
Pacioretty
Daniel Carr

Montreal gets
Dillon Dube
Adam Fox
Matt Stajan
Sam Bennett
Maybe our higher 4th round pick (2018)

I'd take a chance on Bennett with Dube as an insurance policy in a Pacioretty trade.
Biggest issue is that Bennett is not a good gamble to make with a player like Pacioretty. Calgary lacking high 2018 picks hurts as well.

Pacioretty and a replacement for Stajan (perhaps DLR?) for
Bennett, Dube, Andersson and Stajan?

Basically two 2nd round prospects with Bennett filling in for a 2018 1st for Pacioretty and a small potential gain for Calgary with DLR replacing Stajan to mitigate the cap and contract impact.

Calgary should avoid Patches and wait and sign JVR in the offseason if they want a goal-scoring winger. If they could get rid of Brouwer and or Stone's contract(s) they could even fit in a run for Tavares. Their money and assets can be better spent than trading for a big name player.
