Pleky has a value if MTL retain 1/2 salary for the rest of the season. Maybe a 2nd rd or so from a contending team.

Not sure any team in the nhl would want to pay for Haglin at all... He will be more dumped to fit cap if Pitt are in the run for the playoff that anything else, don't you think?

if habs can sign Cogliano I can see a unit with Hagelin Cogliano and Byron. (fast and 2way skilled players)

I don't know how much upside Hagelin has however but like it's stated above plekanec has value when retained at 50% and traded to a contender. At the least a 2nd even maybe a first to the right team.

Pleky has value. Saying he doesn't is ignorant. There are previous trades and examples to use as reference where as anyone else is simply being bias. A 2nd round pick for Pleky based off of nearly every TDL move the past 5 years insures it. Obviously things like positional market overabundance and player droughts can sway certain things for sure but Plekanec is a faceoff winning, defensive centre specialist capable opf putting up 30+ points. Say what you want but he has value .

Hagelin is a different story so the is not comparable. Hags has an extra year on his contract at 4M. If he was playing as good as Pleky is now, he's have more value. Thats the problem, he's not scoring, he's getting paid a lot and he has an extra year on his contract.

Pleky is still putting up decent point on a bad team, can play an important position and his contract is up at the end of the year. A team taking a chance on him only really has to pay like 250K since MTL will most certainly retain some of his salary. A quality defensive centerman who can score 30+ pts for 250K dollars is an easy move to make for a team. Especially for a cup contender.

MTL has no need for Hags, they are stacked on the wing but lack centerman. So either they get another center back or they are looking for picks and or prospects.

I'd take Plekanec and his 16 points over Hagelin and his 6 points even up. Hagelin 4m next year is dreadful.
