If the leafs were to trade for Thornton I think they need to use the rest of the cap space they have 3 million and get a d-man. even if it means giving up a 1st overall draft pick.

Hi Rod: First, don't trade Polak for a meaningless pick. When (if) the Leafs are playing mid June, you need all defensemen. Is the uniting of Thornton and Marleau THAT important? Maybe few years, ago but now?
So basically the trade is Thornton for Bozak for this year. I just don't know if it's any better in 2018. Looking ahead, Soshnikov and Kapanen are almost guaranteed NHL jobs next year with the JVR and Komarov gone. Don't know if Nattinen is an NHLer.
I kinda like Bozak, although many Leafs fans don't. I don't see Joe enough to know if he's better. But I do like your thought on the trade, if you think Thornton is an upgrade and Nattinen has a chance, cause the Leafs will need more NHL centres soon.
