Glass is the reason Karlsson wasn't dealt at the deadline. They are not giving him up, especially for only one guaranteed year. If they were going to do it, they would have done it with last years run.

I don't see any world in which you get Bennett for Pageau. That would have to be at least a 3rd rd pick, but probably a 2nd. Bennett is still young...

I don't think you are getting anything for Hoffman at this point. Too many red flag2 & Claesson is JAG. A team might take a flyer with a 2nd or 3rd pick, but everyone knows the situation. He needs to go, and there is a lot of baggage. This brings me back to Karlsson - It also brings down his trade value because, realistically they both need to go and if it's true- it makes Hoffman very unappealing (highly likely) . If it's not true (Highly doubtful) than Karlsson looks bad. Either way it's not good for the Sens.

That Ottawa 1st rounder could be the most valuable asset in hockey. Colorado will either get the 4th pick or possibly the 1st next year, cause Ottawa is going to be terrible next year when they trade Hoffman and Karlsson. It'll start a complete rebuild cause Duchene isn't going to stay through another Colorado finishing last place season, he'll want out too. Then why would Stone want to stay.

Keep that first no matter what anyone offers you.

Bennett trade may be a stretch, but he was also on the outside looking in for quite a while this season and last for under-performance. Although he seemed to find his groove a bit more when Jankowski jumped into the lineup full time, I think it's fair to say Pageau has been slightly better over the past two seasons, and he's only 25.

I don't think the Karlsson trade is that far off. Vegas has come back asking for Karlsson once again, and this trade seems very close to what the rumours are reported to include. Keep in mind Karlsson is arguably the best defenceman on the planet. A team isn't going to give up that much for him if they don't think they have a shot at re-signing him, but I think a lot of them do. This guy has a Norris trophy, is in the prime of his career, and has a year left at an extremely affordable price. If I'm Ottawa, I'm not taking anything less than a first round pick and a top prospect, plus a mid-range prospect for that.

Agreed that Ottawa would likely have to give up a lot to get that first rounder back from Colorado next year, but once again I don't see this as being that far off. Think about the top line in COL of MacKinnon, Rantanen and Hoffman... I would be pretty enticed if I were the Avalanche. Yes, Hoffman's value took a hit when the recent story came out, but he's scored 20 goals in four consecutive years and is in the prime of his career. If Ottawa has to sweeten the deal a bit, that can be done. Ottawa has plenty of chips to play to try to recoup that pick.

Is your suggestion that over the course of one season, Ottawa will lose: Karlsson, Hoffman, Duchene and Stone? If so, let me put it simply: there's no way that happens.

Why wouldn't it? We all know Karlsson is getting traded. Hoffman's fiance is going to make it very hard to trade him for good value. (No one wants that drama, NO ONE) after that, Ottawa is rebuilding, their defence is week, their offence isn't very strong beyond Duchene and Matt Stone which means you won't be scoring much or stopping people from scoring. Things are getting worse before they get better. The sharks are circling, cause all the other GM's are smelling blood in the water.

If I'm Dorion, I'm pitching to do a full rebuild cause honestly Ottawa needs one, they aren't a contender and don't give me the almost making it to the Cup two seasons ago story as proof they are a contender. They are not as good as the top 3 teams in their division and Buffalo is moving forward eventually so being competitive in this division is going to get harder. Start fresh and get rid of all the nonsense that is surrounding this team.

So if that is the case, then that pick Colorado has is an awesome one that'll be a top 10 pick no matter what. If Ottawa says we are giving you the 4th pick this year and then we'll trade you Karlsson to get that pick back (obviously there would be more parts), then maybe Sakic makes that trade. He holds all the power though in that negotiation.
