Description
This was kind of boring to do, but sometimes thats the best thing and means it's done right. I have a couple notes.

Most people think McQuaid and Spooner are gone so my question was: why not package them together? Edmonton has 8M cap space this season and the cap should go up around 5M so the deal could work. They have a need for secondary scoring and toughness so these players fit their needs.

The second deal was a way to keep our 2nd round pick. I value Beleskey around a negative 2nd rounder. We've done too well in the 2nd round to surrender one for someone to take Beleskey. Donato, Carlo, Forsbacka-Karlson, Lauzon, Lindgren and Studnicka.... all really high prospects. By adding Vatrano and taking on Dorsett I think it should change the value to giving a 3rd. It's still hard to give, but I'd really appreciate having Beleskey's contract erased in 2019-2020 when McAvoy, Carlo, Heinen and Cehlarik are up.

I kept it simple. Two non-blockbuster deals and no UFA's because none are vital.

The Bruins move on from some players that they don't necessarily need. Spooner has been very good this season. I think he's worth a high 2nd rounder if he stays at this rate or dips a bit. If he keeps getting better then the Bruins might just sign him or they'll likely ask for a late 1st. In this mock I'm betting on him staying at the level he is right now.

McQuaid is a solid guy who a ton of people rightfully have made a mock trading him to Edmonton. There isn't a need for him in Boston and he'd be useful for Chiarelli to acquire.
    EDM
    1. McQuaid, Adam
    2. Spooner, Ryan
    Détails additionnels:
Peter Chiarelli gets a versatile F and a tough defenseman.

Spooner gives Edmonton a scorer who would take some of the burden off of McDavid, Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins. He's playing RW right now, he's played LW before and he's played C in the NHL the most. That's a flexible player which is what I view Edmonton needing.

McQuaid brings needed toughness to Edmonton. He's an upgrade over Eric Gryba. Even just having the guy play 60 games a season (he's injured a lot) is worth a 4th rounder. They need better team chemistry and McQuaid is a positive influence to have. He'll fight anyone anytime, especially if someone takes a run at a teammate while he's on the ice.

    1. Dorsett, Derek
    Détails additionnels:
The Bruins take back Dorsett and place him on IR.
    VAN
    1. Beleskey, Matt
    2. Vatrano, Frank
    3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2019 (BOS)
    Détails additionnels:
Vancouver takes a 3rd + Vatrano to take on Beleskey and Bury him for 2 more years because they won't need a lot of Cap if Gudbranson leaves and the Twins get a serious pay decrease. I don't think they should be making more than 5M next season if they are even re-signed at all. There should be extra cap space in Vancouver at this point unless they buy a big fish in free agency.

Solid moves. Can't argue the logic. Bruins will certainly need to clear cap room, though Bergeron, Backes and Krejci won't last forever. Certainly you don't want to part with a bird in the hand that you think will make the Bruins stronger for some future cap room that you might not ever need.

So, you are suggesting Vatrano is a bird in the hand LOL!?!? I think everyone on here is intelligent and educated enough to realize a random 3rd rounder is a bird in the bush at this point.... I can't believe how much love you have for Vatrano. "a bird in the hand" Jesus, he had a couple moderately successful half seasons but decided to crap his jock this year. I see him as a throw-in in any mid sized deal at this point.

I don't have any love for Vatrano. He can play in the NHL. The average third rounder never makes it to the show. That's all I was saying.

I would still kind of argue the fact that Vatrano can play in the NHL. He's had 2 mediocre half seasons and was a no-show this season which was the most important. I'm simply saying there was no "bird in the hand" in that deal so you wrote it wrong whatever you were saying. Both Vatrano and the 3rd are birds in the bush so you shoulda said something like "2 birds in the bush yada yada yada" Getting rid of Beleskey during the 2019-2020 season could be vital. It depends how much the cap goes up, but right now I'd like McAvoy, Heinen and Carlo on long term deals and Celarik is the dark horse. He could be worth a long term deal if he makes the show next season and impresses. McAvoy's contract could easily be 9m or more if he keeps progressing rapidly. If McDavid is worth 12.5 than McAvoy's gotta be pretty high if he stays going on the way up.

Edm likely to be sellers rather than buyers. Cant see them moving picks or adding salary when they are trying to dump it with McDavid’s contract kicking in. But Chiarrelli isn’t a trade genius so who knows.

Not enough incentive for Nucks to take Beleskey”s contract there.
