Boston passes. First of all they are on record saying they are not going to trade away prospects. I think they will stick to that. Second adding OEL while trading Krug kind of defeats the purpose. The idea behind adding a top 4 LH dman was to bump either Krug or Chara to 3rd pair strengthining the unit entirely. This is addition by subtraction.
Take a look at the 2. Same age, both LHD, almost same cap hit, krug has an extra year on contract, identical offensive numbers this year, both better on offense than defense. OEL is better in his own end than Krug but he is no shut down D man either. He has 5 inches and 25 lbs on Krug. Basically Krug is about 65-70% the player OEL is. Is Senyshyn, Zboril, and a 1st worth that upgrade? If they could get him for Spooner, Zboril and a !st id say ok but you cant. Krug, Spooner, 1st...good to. But again it's not enough. If it takes more than no...unless they pay the Beleskey penalty, as in taking Beleskey to get another prospect in the deal.
With Grizz stepping up his game I don’t think they will be in the market for a LHD barring injury. Look for a similar deal like Stafford last year. A late round pick for a RW....Vanek seems to be the likely candidate. And probably little else.
Spooner, McQuaid, Beleskey, Postma, Blidh, and maybe Czarnik are the only guys i can see them moving And those guys are not goung to bring significant returns.
