CHI is at the bottom of the standings and still probably generates more income for the NHL than 75% of the other teams. We are not a poverty franchise, we are rebuilding. Rebuilding teams should absolutely take on bad contracts, but only if it brings in valuable assets and makes sense for their long term picture.

Can't see the Hawks having any interest in Kane. With his history of erratic behavior and off ice issues, that's not the sort of player the Hawks are adding.
