Their cap situation is so horrendous that for the 2024 offseason they have a choice:
-either they take steps in addressing the defense like you did here, but doing that also means having a questionable G tandem
-either they upgrade their G but in doing so they can't do much about defense

Yep. Or they trade the playoff no-show Marner last offseason before his trade protection kicks in. Just an idea.

Not to real at all. Jarnkrok isn't on LTIR. Talbot gets more from some team. Nice you gave Robertson away just to sign Martin. Teams need seven NHL Dmen.

If they improve the defence then the goaltending doesn’t need much upgrading - Woll will be a fine starter as long as he can stay healthy. But the Leafs have played AHL level defence in front of him and he was still incredibly reliable before his high ankle sprain. Safe to say he’s not at 100% since coming back, but with an improved defence and a healthy Woll the team will be much improved.

The real issue they need to upgrade this summer is the PK unit. It continues to let them down a every playoffs

Edit: their cap situation really isn’t that bad. Should have about $15M to sign guys and no one needed over a third line role up front and maybe 1 top defender. They’ll have about $3.25M per player to spend and with the forwards being depth they’ll be cheaper so it allows more money to go to the defence. Should be fine with the cap
