The Eichel trade is a benchmark for value. It included a 3rd round pick going to Vegas, which I omitted here.

All the contextual pieces can make any comp impossible (injury, center vs wing, etc). But for straight up value, I think it serves as useful comp. Both 25-year old captains, both with 4+ years on deal. Both 30-goal forwards. Eichel played a premiere position and produced more, but had higher AAV and injury risk.

I think it’s a fair comp to Eichel deal.

(And certainly more realistic than Bratt Nemec Bahl and top-10 pick)
