Description
On yesterday's Basu Godin Notebook, Basu confirms that Caufield's aim is off while watching him practice. According to Arpon's research, it typically takes 15 months for players to get back to where they were following the surgery Cole had, and we're still in that 15 month period.

Give Cole an offseason to retrain his new shoulder, and we're gonna see a heck of a goal scorer next year. Just take Carey Price's advice and, "Chill". There is no need to sell Caufield. He is finding new ways to contribute and his shooting percentage WILL recover. It just takes time.

It appears he is becoming more of a complete player. His plus/minus (for what it is worth) has improved each year and he is now more of a threat as a playmaker than he was in the past, which means teams have to play him differently (not just as a pure shooter). I think he is doing fine and will continue to get better.

It's almost like putting him with 2 other very good players cover off for his defensive deficiencies...

And I called it: "This contract is either going to be a Josh Norris type contract or a Marner type contract IMO..."

Last year I would have said Norris, this year, I feel like next season we will be talking about him as "Marner light".

I don't believe he will be 100pts guy, but I think he's gonna have a bunch of PPG seasons.

It depends on how he deals with the shoulder...

If I were the Habs, I'd tell him to sit out until the end of the season and just take care of the shoulder, rest it up and be ready to go next year...

That makes no sense. It's not hurting. The recovery is about retraining the muscle memory. His shoulder is feeling great, as evidenced by his play.
