Players to Target

Joki is a good idea.

I still think Yzerman is pulling the trigger on Buch or Chychrun.

It's odd to me that he didnt beat that offer for Hanifin...

I dunno, Adams may be looking to ice an entire back end of Lefties so he may be available!

I don't think he targets either honestly, just too expensive for where we are. At least for Buch, he's at the age where he will start being less effective soon possibly. Team isn't good enough all around to add a player like him. Chychrun if he comes cheap enough I could possibly see, I kind of hope not though. We have so many LHD prospects, 11 currently, plus our roster players. I feel like, although he makes our team better right now, we would be wasting assets for a position that we are almost guaranteed to fill internally at some point.

At least 8 of those prospects will likely never be NHLers. If you have the opportunity to get a Hanifin you do it.

The price was staggeringly low.

Three possibilities come to my mind. Either it was known that he was not interested in signing an extension in Detroit. Yzerman may be trying to acquire another defenseman, possibly Chychrun. Or else he feels as I do that we have enough internal options available and we could use those picks to try and make the team better for the long term. Could have also been an issue with sending a contract back maybe? I'm guessing we will never know.

I don't disagree, likely 8 of them are not NHL players, but that leaves 3 options already, plus our roster players, plus whoever else we draft in the future.
