Not 100% positive on values however what I think the Pens need to do is help some teams with cap issues out and get some picks in return.

Leafs need a goalie, and EDM need out of that Campbell contract. Typically it’s a 1st rounder for an albatross like Campbell’s, but EDM needs some depth and Smith would look solid on their 3rd line. Broberg rumored to be unhappy with his situation there as well, so they deal with a couple issues and PIT helps out.

Tell me please, why wouldn't Minnesota just retain half and then get Robertson themselves? They could take that extra 4th, which is likely more than necessary, and get a third team to retain 875K. Doesn't seem like they need Pittsburgh here. Penguins could get a 4th or later pick for the third party retention.

I'd be willing to bet that Edmonton's GM and front office believe that they have the team that can win the Cup without more than minor tweaking, so taking a drastic step to get significant cap relief this season is unnecessary in light of the $3.9 million reduction they'll get if they buy him out in July and then reap the rewards of a rising cap the following two seasons.

Not even close on the Edmonton deal. These 2nds need upgraded to 1sts at the very least. And the pens are the last team that should be taking on bad contracts to help other teams in cap hell as they are also in a cap crunch. Especially not for such minimal reward.
