Description
From a Bruins perspective I’d be willing to retain on Ullmark but I feel that NJ’s roster is already pretty strong and don’t really need improvements anywhere but maybe C4 which with the leftover 2.8 mill could easily find a replacement.

Ullmark is a strong bridge goalie for one of schmid or daws to takeover as they have both had impressive stretches so far and could be a solid young tandem in the future for jersey I just think they both could use more time to develop

Deal technically ends up being.

Coyle/ Ullmark for McLeod 25 1st 26 2nd
Coyle is ultimately a better version of McLeod. But I feel jersey can use more vet presence and leaders on their team where as Boston is trying to get younger and faster

NJD would have to pass on Coyles cap hit.

The Coyle for McLeod swap is one the bruins would have to add at least a 1st to.

And then assuming this is an offseason deal 1st+Vanacek is probably near the highest I’d go on Ullmark for just 1 year

Okay so clearly you haven’t watched coyle play the last 2 season, I like some of your takes but you are very biased and have a very my way or the highway approach to most offers so sorry but I take a lot of your responses with a grain of salt. Especially since I’ve seen a lot of ACGM users call you out

Coyle is about to be 32 years old.
McLeod is about to be 26 years old.

Coyles analytics in 20-21, 21-22, 22-23 were not particularly good, and he’s historically been a 3C. His age and cap hit doesn’t fit with what NJD is trying to do. I don’t want to buy his age 32/33 and 33/34 seasons

McLeod does exactly what NJD needs him to do every night and should be entering his prime right now. Coyle is on the way down the mountain based on his age.

We would rather keep McLeod who’s been fantastic for us.

Vitek dumped for a 3rd makes sense.

1 year of a goalie with a 5 million dollar cap hit I can’t justify paying more than a 1st for. Especially when we’re really doing Boston a favour taking on his cap hit

My takes are generally pretty consistent:

Unless you are a quality value player (not just existing out there) on the PK or PP, I’m mostly going to look at your 5v5 results.

I believe the NHL is getting younger and younger and would prefer to avoid almost anyone on the wrong side of 30 long term.

I value players according to a combination of past comparables, and monetary valuations based on what I think they’d get in a UFA market.

Coyle is a solid 2C at this point and while I respect what McLeod is doing on the dot, Coyle is pretty much an actualized version of what McLeod hopes to become. He’s arguably been one of the reasons Boston has surprised this year. Frankly, people are trying to chime in about Boston giving up a ton for Elias Lindholm and Coyle is playing better.

Not sure why Boston or Jersey would trade either player at this point. They are probably both worth more to their team than they can secure in a trade

This does more for Jersey than Boston. With goaltending their coach and GM will be out the door.
