Description

Capitals are a very very average team... ACTUALLY they are a bad hockey team. Their point leader is Ovechkin who has 12 points in 18gp. thats ties him for 150th in the NHL. Our best player is 150th in league scoring. not to mention hes extremely out of shape and looks completely disengaged more often than not. Capitals have no great players, no elite players not superstar players. Id argue that Strome and McM are the best forwards and Carlson is hands down our best Dman.

Backstom and Oshie likely retire / LTIR after this season.

Oshie has horrible concussion issues and has a family history of alzheimer's.
Backstrom obviously has hip issues

this frees up 9.2 + 5.7 = 14.9m in cap space next season. (enough for Nylander)

What they should do...
This team is not able to score goals. this team will not win in the playoffs. this team is hurting itself by trying to be a bubble team. they should look to sell off players that have good to great value. they need to become bad enough to draft Demindov or another impactful young player. Leonard looks fantastic they need more prospects like him and Cristall.

IF they cant trade Kuzy ... buy him out. saves them nearly 4m next year and they can use that cap for other up grades... Maybe Novak?

TBH id rather do Beauvillier to eliminate the cap hit all together after this season. That would give the Capitals an additional 5m to spend on upgrades

Canucks would be taking on more risk and would be giving up the better player for a 3M #5RD. I dont think that there should be a pick being traded in the deal

nah... cap hit + term is worth WAY more than what you are suggesting. Even if he becomes a reliable back up for Skinner thats worth 2nd - 3rd. 4th is crazy talk
