Détails additionnels:
I actually do think (as I have made drafts with Joseph to SJ before) - that Joseph is a solid option for SJS to take on.

However they are going to get value. Ottawa/ Dorion did not resolve this earlier. They went out and spent money on wastes of time and money in Tarasenko and Brannstrom. Now they don’t have their 2C, don’t have their 3C and are playing a skater short tonight.

San Jose got Duclair for basically nothing - due to Floridas cap issues and they got leveraged into a small value deal. Ottawa is all but guaranteed to follow suit. Even more so, they’ll probably be exposed more due to the season actually starting and Norris being hurt still + finality of rosters.

They’d likely struggle to get proper value for Brannstrom - so imo it would be an even worse trade/ situation if they attempt to involve him. They gotta take an L and it’s due to improper asset management. Don’t make it worse by losing out on Brannstrom (+ with Chrychruns injury resume you need a ready replacement).

Détails additionnels:
Ottawa basically gets back whatever they want from;
- Capable and quality AHL production in Peterson
w/ Bottom 6 potential (easily a replacement for what Joseph was providing them but at a fraction of the cost) and younger.
Plus a pick.

One aspect I am very interested in. Would Ottawa want Duclair back?

    Détails additionnels:
40 points in 60 games, relit his career in Ottawa. Still very cheap. And now he’s come back to a MUCH better squad. He could easily fit within Ottawa again and this time have a lethal squad with him.

I think it’s a very interesting proposition and allows Ottawa (who will still be giving up assets, to actually get some NHL Top6 production out of a “bad deal”).

The Duclair proposal is more fun/ interesting fun than anything. But rather unlikely due to how tight I have the cap working out.

You could very likely get Joseph and a 2nd for future considerations and keep the 4th rounder.

I’d sure hope haha - I think it’s very likely but I wouldn’t be hurt if it cost Peterson (example), but I just included my max return/ sent package for SJS to include.

I think Ottawa needs to move fast. The fact they’re playing a skater short already is laughable. They can’t afford bad starts and they’re just shooting themselves in the foot right now by wasting Pintos preseason.

If everyone is saying no to just a 2nd, there's no way that any team is giving assets the other way. It seems like the price to move Joseph is higher than Ottawa is willing to pay, and nobody is going to budge.

      Who will crack first tho?

I think it SHOULD, and will be Ottawa.
But we’ve seen far far far worse deals in the NHL than a MJoseph+2nd for nothing.
