If he is traded, then his cap hit goes with him. He's being traded... to retire on another team's dime.

Carter has all the leverage here. If he would rather sit in the press box all year on the Pens, then he can do that... or he can accept a trade to the team he was a hero for and then retire... or sit in their press box there, he can do that as well. This was just a way to open some space for Tatar without sending someone thru waivers.

If hes traded and then retires, his contract comes back to us since it's 35+ only way he isn't on our payroll is if hes moved and DOESN"T retire, He can sit in the press box or play RW on the 4th line either or. but to say he retires on another teams payroll is just either bad wording and you saying hes not actually gonna retire, rather play for them and just be there or failling to understand the 35+ contract
