As great a player as Lindholm is, he just doesn't fit the Sabres' timeline or current roster makeup - for starters, he'd have to be the top center so what happens to Thompson and Cozens as Buffalo's present top 2 centers? Shifting them down the lineup and/or onto the wings seems like poor asset management when both are still developing their NHL careers and games. In addition, trading away Krebs AND Savoie puts a serious dent in Buffalo's center depth - especially with Kulich a better winger and Mittelstadt's future still uncertain as a Sabre when his contract expires. All for a player that will turn 29 this coming season - again, for a team in win-now mode and serious contender for a Cup, Lindholm seems the perfect addition but the Sabres aren't to that point yet.
