After spending a day dreaming of adding both EK and VT, I'm losing faith either happens. But figured I'd give it a try to see if I could figure out how to move the #s in a realistic way to make this happen.
Before fellow Canes posters freak out....every deal represents "worst case scenario", meaning it's either an overpay or gives too much in return. Also the deals are RELATIVE with the goal of adding Terasenko and Karlsson...but will require multiple moves to make that happen under the cap.
Some of you....and you know who you are....who can't see past their fandom and believe a turd wrapped in Canes colors would be equivalent to a diamond, save yourself and skip this...it will make your insides hurt.
So first, let's sign Terasenko, and again, I really hope it isn't this much.
To get Karlsson (worst case scenario), I think it will take multiple 1st, 1-2 NHL ready young players, and a top prospect. I really would love to avoid including Morrow, but if I'm SJ, as long as Pitt is in the picture, I'm pushing for Morrow.
So in order to get another 1st round pick and roster young player, I'm trading Pesce to Nashville. SJ, apparently has interest in Fabro, so going to include him and turn around and offer him to SJ.
To get under the cap, I'm trading Turbo to whoever...in this instance, Minnesota, but I'm open to other teams. It's an obvious cap dump so not expecting much in return
I'll stop here, but to be honest, I'd probably move Skjei as well, don't want to pay a 3rd pair guy that kind of money, but can trade him later if needed due to injuries or whatever.
So the team has more firepower, draft picks pretty well intact
Extending Aho becomes the big challenge for next year
Understand what you’re doing but also have to be realistic. There’s reportedly only one other team involved at this stage and they can’t get anywhere close to the package we have, plus we don’t have to dump potentially negative value deals like they might.
