leafs decline, nylander is younger, better, more durable, and style of play doesnt suggest a decline like wilsons, too many wilson style players decline at his age, lucic, simmonds etc. i know the caps love wilson but they will need to add to this, and not something small

The trade won't happen but I don't think the caps would add much. Nylander is obviously much better but Wilson has an inflated value and the caps have no reason to move him so the imaginary deal would be pretty close to 1 for 1

and in that case the leafs respectfully decline
