Marner isn't worth his contract, so in addition to the assets, Toronto gets 11 million in cap space. Yes, he had 100 points. He also plays in one of the most attacking systems in hockey and on the wing of one of the best snipers in hockey. You cannot tell me his totals are not inflated.

Realistically, the only roster piece Carolina could move to make this work is Teravainen. Svechnikov has more value due to the fact he's signed long term, Aho plays a MUCH more valuable position, Necas makes 1/4 of the money for 3/4 of the production, and Jarvis makes 1/10 the money for a little under 1/2 the production. Not to mention, every player Carolina would be moving is younger. Aho aside (who I still think is a few months younger).

If Toronto fans don't like this, absolutely understandable. Find somewhere else to send him. Canes will decline anything involving major roster pieces
