I don’t care whether the blues want him or not. This is about attempting a fair offer. Obv the blues cap would not like this. I do not care about that part at this moment.

Take it r leave it:

Leaves get tougher.

Leaves get to double their schenns / 60.

Leaves get term/control.

Leaves get high end prospect.

Leaves get cap relief.

Blues get Marner.

Leaves have to give back some minor things for depth chart and roster slots. I don’t know what those would be exactly. 2 Non-NHL impact forwards so our depth chart doesn’t cavitate.

You see how the roster you have left there only has 2 scratches is pretty much at cap, and has 1 center on it? Not to mention our biggest issue this past season was team defense. Feel like running one center isn’t smart

Logan Brown should not see NHL ice next year.

Marner would cost you one of Kyrou, Thomas, or Buchnevich. You need centres anyways, so trading Schenn doesn't make a lot of sense for you.

I know it is unlikely Thomas is moved, so that leaves Kyrou and Buch. If it is Buch, the blues add. If it is Kyrou, it is likely closer to a 1 for 1 deal as although Marner is the superior player, Kyrou has term.

I would replace schenn with Kyrou in a heartbeat. Buchnevich is my favorite skater at the moment so it’s tough to offer, but from a fairness sense I agree.

Buchnevich makes Leafs tougher, but Kyrou does not….

I do think Thomas is untouchable simply from a depth chart perspective. I don’t think it’s possible to include him.

I’m just playing fantasy because I’m bored.

It would be fun to have an outstanding forward on the Blues. I do like our roster, and I’m a huge Thomas fan, Buchnevich fan, but I think Marner is a tier above them and the Blues rarely get into that tier for forwards. He’s also super expensive and lets Matthew Tkachuk punch him in the face. As a blues fan I’d pass on him for fair value, but I’d enjoy it if it happened.
