Flames Buy-in

The Leafs need defense desperately and Nylander appeared to quit on his team during the playoffs. If he stays in Toronto, how likely is it that he doesn't test the market? Instead pickup a reliable defenceman and some draft capital, along with a solid prospect in Pelletier.

If the Flames make this deal it will come with an extension. Hopefully Nylander who was born in the city will agree to a longterm deal. The Flames need goals and if they are buying in a guy like Nylander who can play any spot in the top six would bring a lot of scoring. Losing Hanifin is tough, but if the Flames are commited to trying to compete than they have to sacrifice somewhere. Get rid of the Panthers first to ensure you keep yours. Pelletier is another tough loss, but the Flames forward prospect pool is deep enough to take the hit.
