Description
The plan with this team is to let Evans and Wright start off in limited roles, but hopefully both can work their way into the lineup. My expectations are that Wright can end the season on the 2nd line and Evans on the 3rd pairing as a valuable pp2 contributor. Also I hope Kartye can establish himself as NHL caliber, if not then that sucks, but I have faith in him. The trades are all less about making the team better right now and more about opening up roster spots to aid in the development of players for the near future, as well as unloading some less valuable contracts. I know teams are only able to retain a limited number of contracts but both retained here go away next year, so that won't be a problem. Moves I was planning on making included moving Wennberg or Geekie if Wright is able to play 2C by trade deadline as well as trying to land a blockbuster for Carter sHart but I decided against them because it would be way to situational and unlikely.

To summarize, I got bored and threw this together for fun, Bad contracts and replaceable players are replaced, young guys get a chance, important players are signed and important players who'll need to be signed in the near future can be paid for.

SEA
  1. Choix de 5e ronde en 2023 (DAL)
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (DAL)
Détails additionnels:
Draft picks to further fill the already pretty good prospect pool, mostly to open the roster spot for Clifton. Retention isn't a problem as its an expiring deal.
DAL
  1. Schultz, Justin (1 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Bottom pairing offensive defenseman who can support the pp2 and for only 1.5 x 1yr that's hard to pass on. Other teams could also be landing spots for this type of contract, I just chose Dallas because they were the first team I thought of.
2.
SEA
  1. Salomonsson, Elias
Détails additionnels:
I'm not quite sure how valuable Salomonsson actually is, I just remember him being good in my franchise sim and for being a relatively high draft pick (55th overall), and after noticing that Seattle has very few defensemen prospects I put 2 and 2 together.
WPG
  1. Driedger, Chris (1 750 000 $ retained)
  2. Choix de 5e ronde en 2023 (SEA)
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (SEA)
Détails additionnels:
Again, not sure of Salomonsson's trade value, but I'd rather experiment again with the second goalie slot and get value out of a Driedger trade. Winnipeg gets their new backup goalie at under 2 mil and who's shown flashes of serviceable goaltending the past few years. also isn't too old at 28 so resigning him isn't out of the question.
3.
SEA
  1. Ersson, Samuel
  2. Choix de 5e ronde en 2024 (LAK)
Détails additionnels:
Seattle gets another AHL goalie who can potentially be backup caliber if Nedeljkovic flops and gets stuck in the AHL by the end of the season, but the plan is for him to be a 3rd stringer alongside Daccord with a chance of stepping up into a full time NHL level goalie
PHI
  1. Schwartz, Jaden
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
Schwartz is a good player, a middle 6 scoring winger who isn't a liability defensively, but long term his age and contract do not fit this team. Beniers, Tolvanen, and Eberle are all on expiring deals next year, and ignoring the contracts signed in this ACGM roster, everyone other than Mccann and Grubauer are on deals that expire while Schwartz is on contract. I'd even be willing to retain a small portion of the contract to get rid of it but I think this trade wouldn't require it. Philly doesn't seem like the right team to receive a guy like Schwartz at first, but the team is similar to Columbus in that they believe they're capable of being a good team if healthy and want to conservatively buy (which I disagree with personally but whatever). If Philly is completely healthy and trying to be good, Schwartz would be a very good 3rd line winger for the team. If the contract is still too awful, get a 3rd team to help retain and send them a pick.

Starting Wright on the 4th line is setting him up for failure. Put him centering Gourde and Bjorkstrand on line 3. Can lean into Gourde's center experiences, maybe play his wing some where needed or have him take some draws, etc, and allows Wright enough minutes and strong enough linemates to get going in the NHL.

Ersson isn't going anywhere. Flyers aren't trying to be good, they are entering a rebuild. They want to shed cap if possible and bring in young players, not trade them away.

Don’t need Schultz. Just gave up a first round pick for Nils Lundqvist for the same type of role. Need him to improve his play without the puck and take a lineup spot
