Not enough for Sharangovich. Any Devils fan who'd give him away for that pitiful a return doesn't understand his value. I'd be asking for a 2nd if there were only one buyer, and it seems he'd be in pretty high demand.

Cap space is a non-issue for the Sabres. Olofsson is available but I'd want more than just a 3rd for a 25 goal scorer. I'd be looking for a 2nd or a 3rd and a defense prospect

Those goals come at the cost of him being so bad away from the puck. Guys like that are routinely traded for mid round picks because if they score 25, they are indirectly responsible for their line conceding more than that.

He'll likely get a mid round pick, maybe a 2nd if the Sabres retain (doubtful)

I would expect his value to be a third without retention and a second with retention. Possibly a bit more depending on the team. Moving him in the offseason likely doesn't get the best return as there are more options out there. I would be fine with trading a third for him but not a second. Buffalo is likely better off to retain half and then trade him to a team at the deadline. I don't see them wanting to retain for a whole season considering how frugal the team usually is at spending excess money.

I feel his lack of utilization kind of hurts his value. I personally wouldn't do a second for him but I would chance it with a third. Maybe better returns out there from other teams but I don't see us paying much more than that personally. Is there a specific reason he seemed to be pushed down the line up? Or is it just a problem of too many players and he was just hurt by the depth?
